An easy to make mushroom filling placed between wanton wrappers, tied with spring onion stems and deep fried till golden. These crisp mushroom pouches are perfect as a starter to your dinner party.

Ingredients of Mushroom Pouches
- 20 wonton wrapper
- 2 Tbsp oil
- 2 Tbsp chopped spring onion
- 1 tsp chopped garlic
- 200 gm mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 egg
- 1 Tbsp chopped coriander
- 2 chopped green chillies
- 1 tsp soya sauce
- Salt and pepper
- Blanched spring onion stems, for tying
- Oil for deep frying
- Mint sauce:
- 3 Tbsp shredded mint leaves
- 1 Tbsp sugar
- 125 ml water
- 1 strip orange/ sweet lime rind
- 1-2 Tbsp vinegar
How to Make Mushroom Pouches
1.
Cook onion in hot oil for 1 minute.

Add garlic and mushrooms and continue cooking until liquid evaporates.
3.
Bind with beaten egg.
4.
Add coriander, chillies and soya sauce. Season well.
5.
Place teaspoons of filling in the center of wanton wrappers.
6.
Pinch edges together to seal.
7.
Tie with a spring onion stem.
8.
Deep fry until crisp. Drain and serve with sauce.
For the Sauce:
1.
Combine mint and sugar.
2.
Boil water with rind.
3.
Add in mint.
4.
Sharpen with vinegar.
5.
Season and serve with mushroom pouches.
