Introduced in 2003, India has more than 630 GI-tagged products to date. It is given to indigenous agricultural products, food, handicrafts etc. Here're some GI-tagged foods to try.

1. Darjeeling Tea

It was the first product in India to receive GI tag in 2004-2005. This variety is renowned worldwide for to its floral aroma and 'muscatel' flavour.

2. Hyderabadi Haleem

This appetising slow-cooked dish is widely enjoyed in Hyderabad. Due to its popularity, this regional version of haleem was given a GI tag in 2010.

3. Bikaneri Bhujia

In 2010, it was given GI tag to ensure that none other than the registered users will be allowed to use the name of the product.

4. Banarasi Paan

It was given GI tag in 2023. Its speciality is that it is made fresh by the paan street vendors, something that we don't get to see everywhere.
