The Kalka–Shimla Toy Train is one of the most iconic hill trains in India and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Winding through the lush green hills of Himachal Pradesh, the train passes through 103 tunnels and over 850 bridges.

Located in West Bengal, the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway is another UNESCO-listed toy train. It is famous for navigating steep turns and snow-covered landscapes. The train offers striking views of Darjeeling town.

The Nilgiri Mountain Railway in Tamil Nadu is a standout in India's heritage rail network. Travelling between Mettupalayam and Ooty, the train runs through dense forests, tea plantations, and mist-shrouded hills.
