Watermelons are juicy and refreshing, but not all available in the market are natural. Here's how you can spot a fake and pick a safe, juicy watermelon.

Natural watermelons have dull green skin. If the surface looks unnaturally shiny or overly vibrant, it could be chemically laden.

If the watermelon has a very deep red or pink coloured flesh with white seeds, it might mean that the juicy melon is fake or enhanced chemically.

Fresh watermelons should have a neutral to mildly sweet smell. If it has a strong or sour smell, then it is a red flag and you should discard it immediately.

Before buying, gently tap the watermelon. If it feels deep or hollow, then it might be ripe. If it feels dull, it might mean it's unripe or has chemicals.

If the skin feels sticky or there's an unnatural residue, it may have been coated or injected with chemicals or sweeteners to make it enticing.
