Put your martini glass in the freezer for 10 minutes to get it nicely chilled. You may also fill it with ice water and then discard it before serving.

Take 50 ml of gin and 10 ml of dry vermouth and pour it into a cocktail shaker filled with ice. You can adjust vermouth's amount as per your choice.

Stir the mixture for about 30 seconds with a spoon until it is well chilled. If you prefer a colder martini, shake it in a cocktail mixer for 15 seconds.

Use a strainer and pour the chilled mixture into your martini glass. Make sure there is no ice in your already chilled glass.

You can use a lemon peel to add some zest to your martini. Better still you can go the classic way and use some green olives on a cocktail pick. Serve chilled!
