Tired of sticky or mushy rice? With just a few easy tricks, you can get perfectly soft and fluffy grains every single time. Here's how to make rice like a pro.

Always wash your rice 3-4 times to remove surface starch. This prevents clumping and ensures each grain stays separate after cooking.

Soak rice in water for 20-30 minutes. This helps it cook more evenly and fluffs up better once done. This is especially for basmati or long-grain.

Too much water leads to mushy rice. For basmati, use a 1:1.5 ratio of rice to water. For others, adjust accordingly but not mindlessly.

Once it starts cooking, don't keep opening the lid or stirring. This breaks the grains and makes rice sticky. Let it cook undisturbed.

After cooking, let the rice sit covered for 5-10 minutes. This resting time helps steam distribute evenly and fluffs up the grains.

Never mix with a spoon. Gently fluff the rice with a fork to separate the grains without breaking them or making them sticky.
