Puri is a popular Indian flatbread made with wheat flour and semolina. Bored of the usual version? Try this spicy chana dal puri! You can easily make it at home with these simple steps.

1. Prepare Your Dal

Take 1 cup of chana dal in a bowl, wash it 3-4 times, and soak it for at least 5 hours.

2. Make Chana Dal Paste

Blend the soaked dal with salt, green chillies, ginger, and garlic into a smooth paste.

3. Spice It Up

Transfer the mixture to a bowl. Add wheat flour and sauteed fenugreek leaves. Mix in red chilli powder, nigella seeds, coriander, cumin powder, and salt.

4. Knead the Dough Well

Once everything is combined, add a little oil to keep the dough soft-this helps make the puris extra crispy. Cover and rest for 15 minutes.

5. Fry the Puris To Perfection

Heat oil in a pan. Once hot, lower the flame to medium. Roll out the puris and fry them until golden and crisp.

Place the fried puris on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Serve with onion rings, chutney, pickles, potato curry, or chole for a wholesome meal.
