If you want to recreate that restaurant-style taste at home, follow these simple tips.

Grab a large onion and slice it as thinly as possible. Use your hands to separate the rings so they do not stick together.

Use a sharp knife to get even slices. Uniform onion rings not only look good but also soak up the masala better.

Once sliced, let the onion rings sit in water for 15 minutes. This helps reduce the sharpness. Drain them well before using.

In a mixing bowl, combine red chilli , black pepper, chaat masala, roasted cumin powder, ^ de-seeded green chilli. Mix everything well & set it aside.

In a separate bowl, add the onions & sprinkle the prepared masala on top. Squeeze in some lime juice. Toss everything well so the flavours coat each ring evenly.

Transfer the salad to a serving bowl, garnish with fresh coriander, and pair it with your favourite North Indian meal.
