Diwali Snacks: South Indian Baked Ragi Chakli Recipe

Chakli or Murukku is a tasty teatime snack prepared in South Indian homes. The festive season is perfect for enjoying chakli with hot tea.

This baked chakli recipe is made from ragi which makes this a better alternative to the fried ones made of regular flour. Here is the recipe:

Ingredients

250 gms ragi flour, 150 gms besan, 5 gms ginger, 5 gms chilli, 2 gms garlic paste, 5 gms salt, 20 ml oil

Step 1

Take the dry ingredients and knead them together. Add oil and the required amount of water.

Step 2

Let the dough become semi-soft and divide it into two equal sizes. Put half the dough into a chakli machine (handy and easily available).

Step 3

Press out the roundels of the dough. Place the chaklis in a preheated oven. The temperature should be 360 degrees F for 15-20 minutes.

Take the other half and repeat the same process. Let it cool, the Chakli whirls are ready for your festive feast.
