Don't you just hate it when you bite into a bitter cucumber? It can instantly put you off, but not anymore! Here are smart hacks to remove the bitterness with ease.

Before using cucumbers, you must peel the skin because chemicals often reside on the skin, giving the cucumber a bitter taste.

Removing the edges of the cucumber can also help eliminate bitterness. After cutting, rub the cut edges on the cucumber, then wash it nicely.

Lemons are highly acidic and can help neutralise the bitterness of cucumber. Sprinkle lemon juice on sliced cucumber and let it rest for 10 mins.

You can also use salt to remove the bitter flavour of cucumber. Simply add it to the cucumber, let it sit for 30 mins, then wash with cold water.

For this method, cut the ends and peel the cucumber, then run the tines of a fork all around. This will help release the chemicals from the cucumber.
