How To Clean Oil-Stained Plastic Containers

Oil stains on plastic food containers can be stubborn and unappetizing. They might look dirty even after cleaning. Here are 5 ways to remove oil stains from food containers.

1. Baking Soda Paste

Make a paste using 2 spoons of baking soda and a few drops of water. Apply this paste to the stained areas, scrub gently with a sponge and rinse.

2. Vinegar Soak

Fill the container with white vinegar and let it soak for 2 hours. Then scrub the oily areas with a sponge and rinse with warm soapy water.

3. Soap And Hot Water

Fill the container with hot water and some soap. Let it sit for 15 minutes, then scrub it with a brush. Hot water will make it easier to clean.

4. Lemon And Sunlight

Rub the stained areas with lemon and squeeze the juice as you go. Keep the container in the sunlight for 2 hours. This will help remove the stains.

5. Salt

Sprinkle salt over stained area and scrub with a sponge. Salt's abrasiveness will break down the oil stain. Rinse with warm water and soap afterwards.
