15-Minute Bread Upma Recipe For A Quick Breakfast

Upma is a South Indian breakfast classic, usually made with semolina & spices. If you are in the mood for a twist, bread upma is just as delicious & takes even less time to make.

This quick & easy bread upma is perfect for busy mornings. Toss bread cubes with a flavourful onion-tomato masala, and in mins, you have a healthy, tasty breakfast ready to serve.

Ingredients:

4 bread slices, cut into small rectangles, 2 tablespoons oil,  1 onion, thinly sliced,  ¼ cup beans, chopped,  ¼ cup carrots, chopped, ¼ cup green peas

Salt to taste, 1 green chilli, slit,  ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder,  9-10 curry leaves,  ¼ cup roasted peanuts, 1 lemon wedge

Step-1

Heat oil in a pan. Add onions, curry leaves, and green chillies. Sauté until the onions turn soft.

Toss in the chopped vegetables and cook for two to three minutes.

Add salt and turmeric powder. If you like it spicy, sprinkle in some red chilli or black pepper powder. Mix well.

Add the bread pieces and stir-fry until slightly crispy.

Turn off the heat, add roasted peanuts, and squeeze fresh lemon juice on top. Garnish with coriander leaves, serve hot, and enjoy!
