Kolkata is known for many iconic dishes, and street-style jhalmuri is right up there on the list. It is a quick, snack made with puffed rice, fresh vegetables and Indian spices.

1/2 Cucumber
1 tbsp Coriander
1/2 Tomato
1 Green Chilli
1/2 Onion
2 tsp Roasted Peanut
3 tsp Boiled Chana
1 cup Puffed Rice

1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
1/2 tsp Chaat Masala
1/2 tsp Black Salt
1 tsp Mustard Oil
1/2 Lemon (for garnishing)

Finely chop cucumber, fresh coriander, tomato, green chilli and onion. Keep everything ready in one place.

Take a mixing bowl and add the chopped vegetables, roasted peanut, boiled chana and puffed rice into it.

Cover the bowl with a lid and give it a good toss so that everything gets lightly combined.

Once the vegetables are well coated, add chilli powder, cumin powder, chaat masala, black salt and a spoon of mustard oil.

Put the lid back and give the bowl another gentle toss to let the spices coat all ingredients evenly.

Garnish with a squeeze of lemon juice and serve it in a newspaper cone or a bowl for that classic street food touch.
