Tender and soft, paneer is loved for its versatility, taste and texture. You can use it for sandwiches, gravies, or eat it alone. Making this at home is simple. Here's how to do it.

To make paneer at home, you only need two ingredients – full-fat milk and an acidic ingredient like lemon juice or white vinegar.

Pour two litres of full-fat milk into a hollow pan and bring it to a boil over medium heat. Keep stirring to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.

Once the milk starts boiling, reduce the heat and add two to three tablespoons of lemon juice or vinegar. Keep stirring the milk to simmer.

The milk will start to curdle once you add the acidic agent. Keep stirring till you see the water (whey) separate from the white solids.

Take a muslin cloth and pour the curdled milk into it. Separate the whey from the solid. Rinse the solid with cold water to remove any lemon or vinegar taste.

Put a heavy object on top of the cloth to remove any leftover liquid. Let it sit for 2-3 hours. Then cut it into cubes or store it in a box with water.
