Ganesh Chaturthi is incomplete without sweet modaks. But, this does not mean you will compromise your health. Instead, try making these sugar-free modaks for guilt-free indulgence.

You need 400 gms seedless dates, 100 gms almonds, 100 gms cashews, 100 gms walnuts, 100 gms raisins, 100 gms dry coconut, 30 gms poppy seeds and 1 tbsp ghee.

In a pan, roast the almonds, cashews, walnuts, raisins and poppy seeds on low flame. Once they release a mild aroma, remove from heat and chop.

Take dry coconut and grate it into a dry pan. Roast until it's lightly golden brown but keep an eye on it. Once done, set it aside.

In a blender, add seedless dates and pulse to form a thick paste. Heat ghee in a pan and cook the dates in it for at least 2-3 minutes on low flame.

Once the dates are gooey, add roasted nuts, raisins, coconut and poppy seeds to the pan. Mix everything well.

Let the mixture cool. Grease your hands with ghee, take small portions of it and shape them into modaks. You can also use a modak mould. Enjoy fresh!
