Opt for a large microwave-safe mug. Choose small-sized pasta types like macaroni, penne or fusilli, since the mug will have limited space.

Fill the mug with 1/2 cup of pasta and 1 cup of water. Add a pinch of salt. Microwave on high setting for 4-5 minutes.

Open the microwave midway and stir the contents of the mug. Check if the pasta is cooked al dente/to your liking. If not, microwave in intervals of 30 seconds.

Watch the mug closely so the contents do not boil over. Prep the ingredients beforehand. Finely chop and pre-cook (if needed) the veggies/chicken/ other toppings.

Once the pasta is cooked, get rid of excess water. Add sauce, seasonings and toppings. Use readymade sauces or choose a simpler version to be mixed in the mug.

Combine milk and cheese to make white sauce. Mix tomato puree, garlic cloves and cheese to make red sauce. Pesto must be premade separately and added to the mug.

Balance the flavours of the sauce with salt and seasonings as required. Mix all the elements in the mug well and microwave for 1-2 minutes more or as needed.

Stir the pasta every 30 seconds to ensure the ingredients are properly combined. Later, garnish with grated cheese and herbs. Enjoy hot.
