Are you craving a sweet, spicy and preservative-free kick? Then make this homemade sweet chilli sauce in minutes! Perfect for dipping or drizzling, here's how to make it.

1 cup water
½ cup sugar
¼ cup white vinegar
2 tbsp red chilli flakes
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tbsp cornstarch
½ tsp salt

In a pan, mix water, sugar, vinegar, chilli flakes, garlic, and salt. Stir well and bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat.

Let the mixture simmer for 3-5 minutes. The sugar dissolves and the flavours meld. It'll start smelling sweet and spicy in a couple of minutes.

Mix cornstarch with 2 spoons of water. Make a slurry and gently add this to the sauce. Keep stirring until it thickens.

Turn off the heat and let it cool. Store in a clean jar and refrigerate. Use it as a dip or drizzle over your favourite snacks to get a sweet and spicy kick!
