Diwali festivities often bring lots of Indian sweet boxes into the house! With so many treats, consider setting aside those with a longer shelf life to enjoy later.

Here is a list of several popular Indian sweets and their shelf life, as approved by FSSAI:

Kalakand is a moist sweet that should be kept at room temperature and eaten fresh within the same day of preparation.

This includes Bengali sweets and other sweets with milk like Rasgulla, Rasmalai, Sahi Toast, Rajbhog, Sandesh etc. Store in fridge.

This is for ladoo and khoya sweets like milk cake, Mathura peda, coconut burfi, pista burfi, boondi ladoo, coconut ladoo etc.

Sweets with ghee and dry fruits have a longer shelf life. These include kaju katli, gur para, besan ladoo, atta ladoo, besan burfi etc.
