15-Minute Besan Bhindi Recipe For Quick Lunch

Besan bhindi is a quick vegetarian recipe packed with flavour. Perfect for lunch or dinner, this easy dish can be made in just 15 minutes. Here is how you can prepare it.

Ingredients You Need

Bhindi (okra): 250 g
Gram flour (besan): 1 cup
Red chilli powder: 1 tsp
Turmeric: 1 ts
pCoriander powder: 2 tsp
Carom seeds: ½ tsp
Oil: 3 tbsp
Salt to taste
Lemon juice, curdOnion: 3 (chopped)
Tomato: 2 (chopped)

Step 1: Prepare the Bhindi

Wash and dry 250 g of bhindi. Trim the ends and slice each lengthwise into four thin strips. Keep aside for mixing with the spices.

Step 2: Coat with Besan Mix

Add one cup of gram flour, red chilli powder, turmeric, carom seeds, salt, lemon juice, and two teaspoons oil to the bhindi. Mix well till coated.

Step 3: Fry Till Crispy

Heat oil in a pan and fry the coated bhindi on medium heat. Stir occasionally until golden brown and crispy on all sides.

Step 4: Serve as Snack or Curry

You can eat this crispy okra as a snack or add it into a masala gravy to serve with roti or paratha for a filling meal.

Step 5: Make Basic Masala Gravy

Slice three onions and sauté in oil till golden. Add two chopped tomatoes and cook till soft. This forms the base of your curry.

Step 6: Add Spices and Curd

Add crushed garlic, green chilli, red chilli powder, turmeric, coriander powder, and garam masala. Cook for two minutes. Mix in two teaspoons of curd.

Add the fried bhindi into the cooked masala, adjust salt, and mix well. Serve hot with chapati, paratha, or steamed rice.
