1. Not Soaking

If you skip soaking dal before cooking, it can take longer to cook and uneven texture. Even 20-30 minutes of soaking helps soften it and improve digestion.

2. Using Too Much Water

Excess water can turn dal watery. Always add water as per proportions, generally 1:2 for most dals unless you are making it thin intentionally.

3. Ignoring Tadka Timing

If the tempering is added too early or too late, it won't flavour the dal properly. Add it at the end when the dal is hot for best aroma and taste.

4. Adding Salt Too Early

Adding salt while pressure cooking dal can make the lentils firm. Wait until the dal is cooked to add salt for that soft, creamy texture.

5. Overcooking or Undercooking

Dals that are too mushy or hard should be avoided. Use the right number of whistles on the pressure cooker to soften the dal appropriately.
