Before even touching the chicken, clean your hands thoroughly. Bacteria from your hands can transfer to the meat. Scrub with soap or handwash for 20 secs.
Salt works wonders for cleaning the chicken. Just mix 2 tsp of salt in a litre of water, let the chicken soak for a while, then rinse it with clean water.

Lemon is a natural cleanser. Add 2 tsp of lemon juice to a litre of water and soak the chicken for 5 mins. Rinse it with normal water before cooking.

To get rid of bacteria, wash the chicken with vinegar water. Adding a pinch of turmeric can help too.

Always use a clean plate for raw chicken. Do not place it on the kitchen slab or a dirty utensil.
