One summer drink that always tugs at heartstrings is chaas. Also called buttermilk, it is widely available across India, with various names and little variation in the recipe.

1. Masala Chaas

It is a soulful combination of churned yogurt, chillies, roasted cumin powder, black salt, black pepper and some herbs of your choice.

2. Smoked Chaas

It gives a smokey makeover to regular chaas. All you need to do is place a small bowl on the container, add burnt charcoal and pour ghee and jeera.

3. Neer Mor

It is a South Indian-style masala chaas prepared by churning dahi and spices of your choice. It includes a dash of ginger for some extra zing.
