Buttery, crispy, and soft in texture, benne dosa is a classic delight from Karnataka. Pair it with sambar and chutney, and you're good to go! Here's how to make it easily.

To make benne dosa, you need 1 cup boiled rice, 1 ½ cup poha, ¼ cup urad dal, ½ tsp sugar, salt as per taste, 1 tbsp butter, and 1 cup water.

You need 3 boiled and mashed potatoes, 1 chopped onion, ½ tsp mustard seeds, ¼ tsp chana dal, ¼ tsp haldi, 2 green chillies, and 2 tsp oil.

Soak boiled rice, poha, and urad dal in water for 4-5 hours. Grind into a smooth batter and add sugar and salt to it. Let it ferment for 8 hours.

Heat oil, add mustard and chana dal. Once they splutter, saute onions and green chillies. Add potatoes, haldi and salt. Cook for 4-5 mins. Keep aside.

Heat a tawa, pour a ladle of dosa batter, and spread thinly. Add butter generously. Cook until the dosa turns golden and crispy. Flip if you want.

Add a spoonful of the potato filling to the dosa. Fold it in half and cook for another minute. Serve this buttery Benne dosa with chutney and sambar!
