Looking for a quick snack that's tasty and different from the usual aloo tikki? Try this easy matar paneer tikki that comes together in minutes and makes the perfect tea‑time treat.

1 cup boiled green peas
200g paneer (cottage cheese), crumbled
2 large potatoes, boiled and mashed
1 small onion, finely chopped
2–3 green chillies, finely chopped
½ cup breadcrumbs
1 tsp ginger‑garlic paste
1 tsp cumin powder
½ tsp red chilli powder
½ tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
Oil for shallow frying

Heat a little oil in a pan and sauté the chopped onions until they turn translucent.

Add the ginger‑garlic paste and green chillies, and sauté for another minute.

Stir in the boiled peas, crumbled paneer, cumin powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, and salt.

Cook the mixture for 5–7 minutes, then set it aside to cool.

In a mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes with a pinch of salt and half the breadcrumbs.

Knead into a soft dough. If it's sticky, add more breadcrumbs. Take a small portion and flatten it on your palm.

Place a spoonful of the matar paneer filling in the centre and gently seal it, shaping it into a round tikki.

Coat each tikki with the remaining breadcrumbs and shallow‑fry or deep‑fry until golden and crisp on both sides.
