Street‑style chowmein is loved for its smoky flavour, crisp vegetables, and spicy sauces. With the right method, you can easily recreate this tasty street‑food favourite at home.

200 g noodles
1 tbsp oil
1 tsp chopped garlic
1 small onion (sliced)
½ cup cabbage (shredded)
½ cup carrot (thinly sliced)
½ cup capsicum (sliced)
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp chilli sauce
½ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
2 tbsp spring onions (chopped)

Boil the noodles in salted water until just tender, then drain and rinse them with cold water to keep them separate and slightly firm.

Heat oil in a wok or large pan on high heat, then add chopped garlic and sauté for a few seconds until it releases a strong aroma.

Add sliced onions and stir‑fry quickly on high heat so they turn slightly soft while still holding their crunch.
