Milk powder, as the name suggests, is milk converted into powdered form. You must have seen packets of milk powders in train food, hotel room amenities etc.

Powdered milk is made from fresh milk from which more than 90 per cent of the water has been removed. It also contains minerals and vitamins.

Powdered milk is made by first pasteurising fresh, liquid milk and then concentrating it by evaporation using a vacuum pump.

The concentrated milk is sprayed into hot air, turning it into fine powder almost instantly.

Milk powder can be reconstituted with water to make liquid milk again. It is an easier form to store and carry milk.
