If you need a fast, spicy, and filling breakfast, Besan Masala Toast makes an ideal choice. It is crisp, tasty, and prepared using basic ingredients commonly found in every kitchen.

1 cup besan (gram flour)
½ cup water (or as required to make smooth batter)
4 bread slices
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small tomato, finely chopped
1 green chili, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh coriander leaves, chopped
½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
½ teaspoon red chili powder
¼ teaspoon turmeric powder
¼ teaspoon garam masala
2–3 tablespoons oil or butter for shallow frying

In a large mixing bowl, combine besan and gently add water while whisking constantly to create a smooth batter with medium consistency.

Add chopped onion, tomato, green chilli, coriander leaves, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric, and garam masala to the batter and mix well.

Heat a non-stick pan over medium flame and gently grease it using oil or butter to avoid sticking.

Dip one side of each bread slice into the prepared besan mixture, ensuring it coated evenly with the batter.

Place the coated side of the bread onto the heated pan and cook for 2–3 minutes until it golden brown and crisp.

Flip the toast, cook the other side until crisp and browned, then take it off the pan and serve hot with ketchup or green chutney.
