How To Make Crispy Chana Dal Vada

Ingredients

1 1/2 cup Chana dal
1 cup Onions, chopped
1 tsp Ginger-garlic paste
2-3 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped
1 1/2 tbsp Curry leaves
2 tsp Red chilli powder
1/2 tsp Hing
1 tsp Haldi
Salt, to taste
Oil, for deep-frying

Step-1

First, wash the chana dal thoroughly and soak it in water for 2 hours. In a blender, add jeera, fennel seeds, red chillies and cinnamon to make a coarse powder.

Add the soaked chana dal and salt to the blender. Pulse well. Take 2 tablespoons of the soaked dal and spice powder and keep aside for later use.

Transfer the blended chana dal mixture and the reserved portion to a bowl. Add chopped onions, curry leaves, green chillies, ginger-garlic paste and the ground spices. Mix thoroughly.

Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape them into small balls. Ensure each vada is compact to prevent breaking during frying.

Heat oil in a pan on medium flame and deep-fry the vadas until golden brown. Remove and drain on a kitchen paper towel. Serve hot.
