Cake is one of those desserts that never disappoints. And when it comes to chocolate cake, let us be honest — it is the go-to choice for most people.

Here is a simple eggless chocolate cake recipe you can pull off at home without any fancy ingredients or baking experience.

150 gm flour
125 gm whole wheat flour
50 gm cocoa
10 gm baking powder
225 gm castor sugar
1 tsp vanilla essence
9 Tbsp oil
350 ml water
Cocoa powder and chopped nuts for decorating

3 Tbsp milk
250 gm icing sugar
2 Tbsp cocoa powder
1–2 Tbsp milk (if needed)

Start by sifting the flour, cocoa, and baking powder into a mixing bowl. Add in the sugar and vanilla essence and mix well.

Slowly pour the water and oil into the dry mix. Use a whisk or hand beater to turn it into a thick, smooth batter.

Pour the batter into an 8-inch cake tin that has been greased and lined. Bake at 160 degrees Celsius for around 45 minutes.

Let the cake cool down a little before taking it out of the tin. This helps keep it from breaking apart.

Add milk to melted butter in a bowl. Stir in icing sugar and cocoa powder. Add extra milk only if the mix feels too stiff.

Spread the icing over the cake evenly. Dust some cocoa powder on top and throw on some chopped nuts for a nice finishing touch.
