Black cardamom, Green cardamom, Cinnamon, Ginger, Black peppercorn, Fennel seeds, Tulsi leaves, Water, Tea leaves, Sugar, Milk

Place a pot on a stove and add 2 cups water to boil.

Pound 1 inch of ginger and 2-3 black peppercorns. You can pound the rest of the spices or add them directly, depending on how strong you want their flavour.

To the boiling water, add ginger, peppercorns, 4-5 tulsi leaves, 1 pod of black cardamom, 2 green cardamom pods, 1/2 tsp cinnamon powder, 1/2 tsp fennel seeds.

Bring it to a boil and let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes. Add 2 tsp tea leaves and simmer for another 3-4 minutes.

Finally, add 1 cup of milk and bring it to a boil. Let it simmer till you get a nice, strong colour.

Strain the tea into cups, pair it with roasted nuts, rusk or biscuits, and enjoy your masala chai!
