How To Make Maharashtrian Tendli Bhaat

Ingredients:

1 cup rice, 1 onion, sliced, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 5-6 ivy gourd (tendli), sliced, 1/2 tsp red chilli, 1/2 tsp turmeric , 1 tsp goda masala, Salt, to taste

Ingredients:

Curry leaves, 1/2 cup grated coconut, Fresh coriander leaves, chopped, 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped, 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped, Oil for cooking

Step-1

Heat oil in a pan and fry the cashews until golden. Set them aside. In the same pan, throw in mustard seeds and let them pop.

Add chopped garlic, ginger, green chillies, and curry leaves to the pan. After a minute, toss in the sliced onions and ivy gourd. Let them fry for about 5 mins

Now, add red chilli powder, turmeric, salt, and goda masala. Give it a good stir, then add the rice. Mix everything together so the rice gets all that spicy goodness.

Pour in two cups of water, cover, and let it cook on medium heat for 15 minutes. After that, lower the heat and simmer for a few more seconds.

Turn off the heat, and sprinkle the fried cashews, coriander leaves, and grated coconut on top. Your delicious Tendli Bhaat is ready to serve!
