How To Make Rasam Powder At Home

Rasam powder is an aromatic and flavourful spice blend that adds a tangy and spicy kick to rasam. It is easy to make and extremely versatile. Here's how to make it fresh at home:

To make this, you need 2 tbsp toor dal, 1 ½ tbsp coriander seeds, 1 tbsp black pepper, ½ tsp fenugreek seeds, 1 ½ tsp cumin seeds, and 5 dried red chillies.

1. Dry Roast Dal 

Dry roast toor dal until it turns golden. Then add 1 ½ tbsp of coriander seeds, 1 tbsp black pepper and ½ tsp fenugreek seeds and roast till aromatic.

2. Add Other Ingredients

In the same pan, add 1 ½ tsp cumin seeds and 5 dried red chillies to the roasted mixture. Continue roasting until the chillies turn crisp.

3. Cool And Grind

Allow the roasted mixture to cool completely. Once done, grind it into a fine powder using a blender or a spice grinder.

4. Store The Powder

Transfer the rasam powder to an airtight container to prolong its freshness and flavour. Store it in a cool and dry place.
