Khichdi is one of the most loved Indian comfort meals. While there are many ways to make it, masoor dal khichdi stands out for how light, quick, and flavourful it is.

This easy masoor dal khichdi recipe is perfect for days when you want something wholesome without too much effort.

1 Cup masoor dal
1 cup rice
4 cups water
1 Onion, finely chopped
1 Tomato, finely chopped
1 tsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tsp haldi
1 tsp garam masala
Salt to taste
2 tbsp ghee

Rinse the masoor dal and rice under running water until the water turns clear. Soak both in water for around 30 minutes.

Heat ghee in a pressure cooker. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter. Add chopped onions and sauté till they turn golden brown.

Now add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for another minute. Toss in the chopped tomatoes and cook till they soften.

Drain the soaked dal and rice. Add them to the cooker and give everything a good mix.

Add haldi, garam masala, and salt. Stir well. Add 4 cups of water, mix again, and close the lid.
