Palak Besan Cheela Recipe For Healthy Indian Breakfast

Palak Besan Cheela is a nutritious and tasty Indian pancake made with spinach and gram flour. It is quick to prepare, light on the stomach, and perfect for a healthy breakfast or snack.

Ingredients

1 cup besan (gram flour)1 cup fresh spinach (palak), finely chopped or blended1 small onion, finely chopped1 green chilli, finely chopped (optional)½ teaspoon turmeric powder½ teaspoon red chilli powder½ teaspoon carom seeds (ajwain)Salt to tasteWater as requiredOil for cooking

Step-1

Put one cup of chopped spinach in a blender or mixer and grind it till it turns into a paste.

Step-2

In a bowl, put one cup besan flour and add one-third cup of water to it. Increase or decrease the amount of water to get the right consistency. It should not be too thick or too thin; it should be a lump-free, smooth paste.

Step-3

Add one tsp of cumin, one finely chopped onion, green chilli, half tbsp ginger-garlic paste, salt (as per taste) and the blended spinach. Mix them well.

Step-4

Heat about one teaspoon of oil/ghee/butter in a non-stick pan (tawa) and spread it evenly. We used ghee.

Step-5

Take a tbsp of the besan batter and pour it in the middle of the pan. Now, with the backside of the tbsp, spread the batter in a circular motion all over the pan.

Step-6

Cook on both sides. Repeat the steps to make other cheelas with the remaining batter. Serve cheela with mint chutney
