Tomato rice is a tangy, spiced pulao packed with the goodness of tomatoes, whole spices, and onions. It pairs best with yoghurt and chutney for a comforting meal.

1 cup onion
½ cup tomatoes
1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
1 tbsp red chilli powder
½ tbsp turmeric powder
½ tbsp jeera
1 tbsp pepper
1 bay leaf
2 cloves
Salt to taste

Heat a pan, add dry spices, and cook with chopped onions.

Once the onions soften, add chopped tomatoes, ginger-garlic paste, salt, turmeric, and red chilli powder. Mix well.

Let the mixture soften, then pour in water.

Add washed rice and cook until done. Serve with chutney and raita.
