Sauteing is a method where food is cooked quickly on medium heat in a small amount. This helps in retaining food's texture, flavour and nutrients.

As per legends, the word “saute” came from the French word “sauter,” which means “to jump.” This refers to the way food and veggies are cooked in the pan.

Cut vegetables into small pieces. This will ensure even cooking. Have all the veggies chopped and ready before heating the pan.

Place a pan over medium-high heat. Add a small amount of oil to the pan and let it heat. The right temperature is important for sauteing.

Add chopped veggies to the hot pan all at once. Keep stirring to avoid sticking. Don't overcrowd it as it could lead to steaming rather than sauteing.

Saute vegetables until they are tender and slightly browned. This will take 5-7 minutes depending on your veggies. Add seasonings and serve hot!
