An easy, quick and delicious recipe of potatoes simmered in curd, Dahi Aloo is a gravy side dish that goes well with steamed rice or just chapatis. It also goes well with jeera rice or matar pulao.

Ingredients of Dahi Aloo

  • 1/4 Cup Ghee
  • 1 cup Cumin Seeds
  • 1/8 tsp Asafoetida Water
  • 1 tsp Ginger
  • 2 nos Tomato, pureed
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 3-4 Potatoes (Boiled)
  • 1 Green Chilli, chopped
  • 1/2 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Curd
  • 1/4 cup Coriander Leaves

How to Make Dahi Aloo

1.
Take Ghee in a pan.

Add cumin seeds and asafoetida water to the pan.

Saute them and add ginger.

Mix the ginger along and add pureed tomato
5.
Mix well and add garam masala, coriander powder, salt, turmeric powder and red chillli powder.

Mix the spices thoroughly.
7.
Add boiled potatoes and green chilli to the gravy.
8.
Mix all of it together.
9.
Now add water and mix well.
10.
Add curd to the cooked potato gravy.
11.
Mix thoroughly till the gravy turns brownish-yellow in colour.
12.
Add coriander leaves and mix well.
13.
Serve hot.
