About Moong Dal Ki Goli Recipe: Fried dumplings of moong dal cooked in a simple yet flavoursome gravy of onions, tomatoes, ginger-garlic, chillies and finished off with a garnish of coriander leaves. Best enjoyed with Indian breads.

Ingredients of Moong Dal Ki Goli

  • 400 gms whole moong dal
  • 1 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tsp garam masala powder
  • 15 gms green chilli, chopped
  • 100 gms onion, chopped
  • to taste salt
  • For the masala:
  • 150 gms tomato, chopped
  • 150 gms onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp garlic, finely chopped
  • 1 tsp ginger, finely chopped
  • 2 Green chilli, chopped
  • 2 tbsp coriander leaves (to garnish)
  • to taste Salt

How to Make Moong Dal Ki Goli

Soak moong dal in enough water for 2 hours. Grind the dal to a coarse texture. Mix well with ginger, garlic, onions, green chillies, garam masala and salt.

Shape into round dumplings and deep fry till well-done. Keep aside. Method for the gravy:

Heat oil in a pan. Add finely chopped ginger and garlic, saute till the raw aroma goes away and till they change colour slightly. Add chopped onions, fry till they turn translucent.

Once done, add the chopped tomatoes, chopped green chilies, turmeric powder and red chilli powder. Fry these together to infuse the flavours into the mixture.

When the gravy is done, add the fried dumplings of moong dal. Season with salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
