From idli sambhar and appam stew to medu vada, dosa and aloo bonda, all these delicious dishes make for a mouth-watering breakfast. While the aloo bonda is a classic deep-fried dish that is made by coating aloo masala in besan batter and then deep-fried, food blogger Parul Gupta added an extra crunch to this crispy snack. Aloo Pyaaz Bonda Recipe: How To Make Aloo Bonda With An Onion Twist
Grind green chillies, ginger, garlic and coriander seeds in a masala. Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, fennel seeds, hing, cumin seeds, kasuri methi and ground masala. Mash boiled potatoes and add them to the pan. Season it with red chilli powder, turmeric powder, red chilli flakes, coriander powder, cumin powder, raw mango powder and salt. Mix well. The masala is ready!
For the onion twist, peel onions and take out layers of the onion as shown in the video. Prepare a thick batter of gram flour, rice flour, salt, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and water. Make small balls of the masala and cover the balls with layers of the onion. Dip the onion-covered masala in the batter and deep fry the bondas till they are lightly golden. The aloo pyaaz bonda is ready!
