Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe spends his day overseeing food safety across the state, but there are also times he plays a host to friends. 

In an Instagram video shared by entrepreneur Rohan Bhamkar, Mundhe was seen in the kitchen preparing tea. According to Bhamkar, he and a few friends joined Mundhe at his home. In the caption, Bhamkar explained that as soon as they entered the house, Mundhe's brother Ashok welcomed them with water.

As they settled down for a conversation, Mundhe casually asked them, “Will you have tea? I am making it.” Bhamkar shared that he agreed, and Mundhe went into the kitchen to prepare tea. He captured the candid moment, showing Mundhe and his brother, Ashok, going about the task without any fuss. For Bhamkar, it was the simplicity that stood out.

Sharing the video, Bhamkar wrote, “The humble side of an FDA commissioner. "

“On the one hand, an officer who is taking big responsibility as an FDA Commissioner, and on the other hand, no protocol, no PR team. Both brothers were simply making tea in the kitchen.”

Bhamkar further said that the moment reminded him that “no matter how big the position is, staying grounded as a human being…this is the real identity of greatness.”

Mundhe is making headlines for his enforcement drive as Maharashtra FDA commissioner. Under his leadership, the FDA has been conducting inspections of restaurants, hotels, and clubs, among other food establishments across the state, and immediate action is being taken against establishments that are found violating food safety guidelines. According to Mundhe, the crackdown is necessary to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
