Ingredients of Ghorikai Uppakari

  • 500 gm cluster beans
  • 75 gm oil
  • 5 gm mustard seeds
  • 5 gm channa dal
  • 5 gm red chillies
  • 2 gm curry leaves
  • 3 gm asafoetida
  • 5 gm green chillies
  • 50 gm coconut
  • Salt

How to Make Ghorikai Uppakari

1.
Cut the beans into fine slices, blanch and set aside.

Grate the coconut and slit the green chillies.

Cut the red chillies into 1/2 inch pieces.

Heat oil and add the mustard seeds, when crackling, add the dal. When the dal turns golden in color add the curry leaves, asafoetida and green chillies and saute for 1 minute.

Add the beans and the salt. Sprinkle 10 ml of water, cover and cook on a low flame.
6.
When the beans are done, add the coconut and stir for 2 minutes.
