Ingredients of French Beans Ki Sabzi

  • 250 gms French beans
  • 1big onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1 cup grated coconut
  • 1/2 cup peanuts
  • 1-inch ginger
  • 4-5 garlic cloves
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/4 tsp mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp haldi powder
  • 1 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/2 cup tamarind pulp
  • 1 tbsp grated jaggery
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp oil

How to Make French Beans Ki Sabzi

Wash, dry and chop the French beans into half-inch pieces.

Dry roast the peanuts and grated coconut for 5 minutes on low flame. Cool and coarsely grind together.

Separately, coarsely pound the garlic cloves, ginger and green chillies together. Keep ready.

In a thick-bottomed kadhai, heat oil and add the mustard seeds and cumin seeds.

Once they splutter, add chopped onions and saute until they turn translucent.

Add the ginger-garlic mixture. Cook for 2-3 minutes.

Add haldi, chilli powder and 1 ½ tsp salt.

Add the French beans and tomatoes. Mix well and stir-fry for 5 minutes and then cover the vessel. Allow to cook for another 5 minutes.
9.
Uncover and add the tamarind pulp and jaggery. Mix and cook for 2 minutes.
10.
Finally, add the ground coconut-peanut mixture. Combine well and serve the sabzi hot with chapatis.
