Sweet Chicken Curry Recipe

A chicken curry with caramelized onions, tangy tomatoes and ketchup. The curry is covered with a plate, a piece of coal is placed along with green chillies and ghee for the curry to be cooked in its aroma. The pot is then sealed with some dough and cooked.

Ingredients of Sweet Chicken Curry

  • 1 chicken
  • 50 gm butter
  • 3 diced onions
  • 1/2 tsp grated ginger
  • 1/4 tsp ajwain
  • 1/2 tsp ground cumin seeds
  • 1/2 kg tomatoes
  • 6 Tbsp tomato ketchup
  • 1 inch chunk of glowing coal
  • 2 split green chillies
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • Dough to seal the pan
  • Salt to taste

How to Make Sweet Chicken Curry

1.
Brown the chicken in butter over a moderate flame. Remove from the pan.

Add onions to the same pan and cook until soft.

Add the remaining ingredients except green chillies, ghee and coal. Cook for five minutes.

Place the chicken into the pan.
5.
Float a steel dish on top of the curry. Add green chillies, glowing coal and pour hot ghee.
6.
Seal the pan with the dough and simmer for 15 minutes.
7.
Serve hot with boiled / steamed rice.
