Food At Met Gala 2024: What Was Served To The Guests At Met Gala 2024?
Just like fashion, food at Met Gala has always synchronized with the theme of the year. Following the tradition, this year, caterer Olivier Cheng curated a menu that goes well with the theme 'Sleeping Beauty: Reawakening Fashion'. According to Vogue, he also believes that some of these dishes are "worthy of a children's storybook". He further explained that the menu focused on the best of the seasonal ingredients, drawing inspiration from "the lush gardens and palaces of Sleeping Beauty's fantasy world".
According to a report in Vogue Magazine, for starters, Olivier Cheng served a spring vegetable salad that included olive crumble, butterfly-shaped croutons, elderflower foam, and raspberry vinaigrette. Next, the main course had beef fillet topped with tortellini rose, resembling a "culinary castle". Finally, for dessert, he served apple-shaped almond cremeux, taking inspiration from the popular fairy tale Snow White.
The report further explains that the invitation, menu card, napkins, and table setup were also done keeping the theme of the event in mind.
3 Foods That Are Never Served At Met Gala:
The Met Gala menu gets revised every year, as per the theme and the vibe of the season. But did you know, there are three such food ingredients that could never make a spot on the event menu? You read that right! As per a report in E! Online, Anna Wintour, the editor-in-chief at Vogue and co-host of Met Gala, has vetoed three foods from ever being served at the event due to their potential to cause bad breath. No points for guessing, those foods are chives, onion, and garlic. This means, the chefs at Met Gala experiment and go creative with the menu, eliminating these three ingredients from the recipe. Sound interesting and quite challenging, right?
