A recent video showing a former bartender performing an elaborate drink 'trick' in front of her children has gone viral on Instagram. In the reel, Kim Gamez details why she decided to take on the challenge and how she managed to pull it off. Kim explains that she came across an old newspaper article from 2004 in a filing cabinet. The front page has a large photo of her doing her signature "pyramid bar trick." She explains that the photo was taken back when she and her husband owned their first restaurant and bar. She then says, "I wonder if Kimmie G still has it." She decides to try and find out.

She explains each step of her attempt to do the pyramid trick. One first needs to assemble an odd number of glasses and the same amount of shakers. However, in place of the latter, she is using plastic cups this time. Next, one has to keep all the ingredients for the drinks ready. She uses flavoured water in the video because she is showing her kids the trick. But it would have been shots of alcohol in a bar 20 years ago, she points out.

The next step is to put sufficient ice at the bottom of one cup (or shaker) and place the second cup on top to create a balanced distance between the two. She removes some of the initial ice to centre the cup better. Similarly, one has to measure the amount of ice and repeat the step until all the cups are filled and stacked. She is doing the trick with only 5 cups in the video, but she says that she remembers doing it with up to 20 shakers at a time in the old days. She also reveals that she used to always sing "The Rainbow Song" while doing it.

After filling the cups with ice and checking their balance as a stack, she separates them again and pours small quantities of the flavoured water into each. She stacks them again and places a glass on top of the final cup. She assembles the empty glasses in a pyramid shape on the counter. She then takes the filled cup stack and "pinches" it tightly on one side so that everything stays in place. She then slowly lowers it over the 'pyramid' and carefully pours the drinks into each glass. She manages to do the trick and her kids, who are watching her every move with wonder, are left stunned. One of them exclaims, "Good job mom". Watch the complete video here:
