While nuts like walnuts and pistachios are considered weight-loss-friendly foods, cashews have earned a reputation for not being so good for weight loss. But is it true? Consultant Nutritionist Rupali Datta says, "Cashew nuts are high in calories but if they are mixed with other nuts like walnuts, almonds and raisins, it won't lead to weight gain. But make sure to eat roasted or plain cashews in place of salted and fried cashews." 

Dietitian Akanksha J Sharda seconds it through her Instagram post, "Cashew nuts do not cause weight gain unless they are eaten in excess. Most nuts with the presence of fats are assumed as fattening. However, cashew nuts contain healthy fats that help lower cholesterol levels and keep your heart healthy."

Nutritionist Rupali Datta suggests eating one ounce of mixed nuts (about a handful) including cashews in equal proportion. Once in a while, making curry with cashew paste should also be okay.
