Dosa, uttapam, sambhar, idl - we just get hunger by just thinking about these breakfast staples! But there is something about idli that just warms our hearts. There is almost nothing as soft and fluffy as idlis. It is one of the most widely popular street snacks in the country! And, because they are steamed, you avoid a lot of unwanted calories. Another benefit is that idli batter is made of fermentation, making it good for the digestive system as well. Idli is one tasty and healthy breakfast option, but it doesn't mean we can't make it healthier!

We have found the perfect recipe of a detox bhindi idli that is healthier and even tastier! With the added benefit of idli, you get a fibre-rich breakfast. The goal of these idlis is to encourage your natural intake of vegetables over rice, as rice is full of starch and starch is difficult to digest. Instead of the usual rice batter, these idlis are made of millet-based batter. These detox idlis are very easy to make and they taste simply delicious!

How To Make Detox Bhindi idli:

Ingredients:

1 cup urad dal

3 cup proso millet

150 gms bhindi

1 green chilli

1 tsp cumin seeds

Method:

1. Grind the urad dal into a paste in a mixer-grinder. Add proso millet and grind it again. Makes sure you get a fine paste.

2. Mix the dal-millet paste with your had for 4-5 minutes. Then let this paste ferment for at least 4-5 hours.

3. In the grinder, put bhindi, green chilli and cumin seeds and make a puree.

4. Add the puree to the fermented batter. Mix well. Pour the batter in idli moulds and steam for 10-15 minutes. The idlis are ready!
