Ingredients of Batata vada idli

  • 1 Cup Idli batter
  • 1 cup Boiled potato
  • 1 medium Onion sliced
  • 1 small Ginger chopped
  • 1 tbsp Mustard Seeds
  • 6-8 Curry Leaves
  • 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  • 1 tbsp Haldi
  • Salt as required

How to Make Batata vada idli

Prepare idli batter as you would and keep it aside.

In a pan heat some oil, add mustard seeds and when they start to crackle add curry leaves, chana dal, ginger and onion.

To this add red chilli powder, haldi, salt and mix.

Add boiled potatoes and mash properly until a stuffing is formed.
5.
Grease the idli pan and pour the batter halfway in every idli bowl, now add a spoonful of potato stuffing and pour batter on top until the idli bowl is filled.
6.
Steam this like you would a simple idli and check if cooked in 20-25 mins.
7.
Remove from heat and serve with chutney or sambar.
