These leafy plates have been used since many years as they are considered more expendable and sterile than wooden utensils. Additionally, consuming hot food on banana leaves can enhance the nutritional value of the meal. But do you know how banana leaf plates are made? Recently, a video demonstrating the manufacturing process of these plates went viral on Instagram. The clip has intrigued viewers from all quarters.
The video begins with a man placing a circular steel plate on a banana leaf and using a sharp object to cut the leaf into a round plate shape. For square-shaped plates, the stems and edges are trimmed off. The plates are then tied with a long strip from the banana stem and wrapped in newspaper before being bundled.
