"If we talk about turmeric. We export turmeric worth Rs 1,600 crore today and now we are aiming to reach Rs 8,400 crore. To accomplish this target it is necessary to form a National Turmeric Board," he said.

BJP state president and Union minister G. Kishan Reddy added, "Turmeric is majorly cultivated in Tamil Nadu, Telangana state, Karnataka, MP, Odisha, Bengal and Gujarat. The board will help in setting up processing units and aid in its export. Establishing a tribal university was delayed owing to delay in finalising the land for setting up the board."
